Village Clerk-Treasurer
The Village Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer’s office serves as a point of contact for anyone seeking information about village operations, policies, and procedures. It plays a vital role in the efficient functioning of the Village government by managing administrative and financial tasks that ensure compliance with all legal state requirements.
This department is responsible for the billing and collection of village property taxes, the recording and collection of all other revenues, employee payroll, accounts payable, the day-to-day financial operations of the Village, and all banking transactions. Responsibilities also include purchasing and bidding for projects, goods, and services.
The Administrator’s office is also responsible for the managing of Village elections which take place every two years. This office oversees the Village’s complimentary commuter shuttle service from Village Hall to the Manhasset train station, including issuing resident shuttle passes. The Village Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer is the Chief Fiscal Officer of the Village, collector of taxes for the Village, and administrator of all matters relating to finance, including the Village Budget. The Village’s fiscal year runs from June 1st through May 31st. The administrator’s office is responsible for the accurate recordings of all fiscal transactions of all funds maintained by the municipality following generally accepted principles and the mandates and guidelines of the New York State Comptroller’s Office.
The Village Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer is designated as the records management officer and is responsible for all aspects of records management for the Village including FOIL requests. This office is also responsible for the administration of all board functions including the maintenance of minutes, the management of board applications, and complying with the notice and filings necessary for board procedures. Additionally, this office maintains records of all local legislation.
