Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced "New York Forward", a phased re-opening of New York State. This includes a Phase 1 re-opening of the Downstate/Long Island Region as of May 27, 2020. Phase 1 will allow construction to re-open, to the extent permitted by New York State guidelines, with safety plans and processes that lower the risk of infection. All workers must follow official New York State guidelines, including those regarding maintaining social distancing and the wearing of face masks on certain job sites. Please see the link below for official New York State guidelines & sample Safety Plan. A completed Safety Plan must be maintained on site at all times and be available upon request.

A Message from the Mayor

Dear Resident:

In an effort to prevent exposure to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) the Village has adjourned in person public hearings, however essential business will be conducted via teleconference and will be accessible to the public via the "Village of North Hills You Tube Channel".

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends several actions you can take to help prevent the spread of this disease as we gradually reopen the County and Village:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  • Stay hydrated and drink water frequently during the day.

We will all get through the current situation and we ask you to use common sense and take care of yourselves. The health and safety of everyone is of utmost importance during this unprecedented time. Now that we are in Phase 1 of reopening, building permits that were suspended are reactivated with an automatic extension of time to offset the delay as a result of the mandatory lockdown.

If we can help in any way please do not hesitate to contact the Village.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Deputy Mayor Dennis Sgambati, Trustee Phyllis Lentini, Trustee Elliot Arnold and Trustee Gail Cohen for their diligent services to the Village of North Hills.

Mayor Marvin Natiss
